Funny story: I put this together as a maquette to propose for installation. Here’s the kicker – I misread the call for entry; this isn’t what they’re looking for AT ALL. Oh well; maybe I’ll get to build a 7 foot tree in clay some other time.
I’m participating in Walter McConnell’s summer workshop called “Big Clay: Raw”. I’m so ridiculously excited to be here at Alfred. It’s only Day 1, and I already feel completely at home. Walter showed us some images of contemporary ceramics and gave us a demonstration of a variety of techniques we could use on our assignment: a large, raw clay installation in the ceramics gallery.
The AGB has opened with the “Watch” collection in their courtyard.
There will be a second opening later in June (or early July) where I will likely be giving a walk-and-talk tour of the exhibition. I’ll keep you posted.
