This site-specific installation was commissioned by Curator Sequoia Miller for exhibition at the Gardiner Museum (Toronto). Polyanthroponemia explores questions of the sustainability of human activities on this Earth. Composed of unfired clay and mixed media, Dykstra’s sculptural work exists in a state of flux. This installation expanded throughout the exhibition period, spreading to new sights in and outside of the gallery. At the end of the exhibition, the work was disassembled and the materials reused in new formations. Working with unfired clay allows Dykstra’s work to exist as a momentary pause in a constant cycle of becoming and dissolving.
